For Professionals
A trusted partner for specialized DBT & trauma treatment
Mental Health Systems (MHS) partners with therapists, psychiatrists, healthcare providers, school professionals, case managers, and community organizations throughout Minnesota to provide specialized Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and trauma treatment for individuals. We offer programs for adults and adolescents.
For more than 20 years, we have served as a resource for professionals seeking structured, evidence-based care for clients with complex emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Whether you’re looking for a comprehensive DBT program, trauma treatment, or a specialized service for a specific population, our team is here to support both you and your clients.
Why refer to MHS?
Many clients need more support than traditional outpatient therapy alone can provide. Our programs offer a structured, skills-based approach that helps clients build practical tools for managing emotions, improving relationships, reducing crisis behaviors, and creating meaningful change.
We frequently receive referrals for clients experiencing:
- Chronic emotion dysregulation
- Self-harm or suicidal ideation
- Repeated crisis cycles
- Trauma and PTSD symptoms
- Substance use concerns
- Difficulties benefiting from traditional outpatient therapy alone
Our programs are designed to complement and strengthen the work already being done in individual therapy and other treatment settings.
Adolescent programs
Our adolescent programs are for ages 12-18, with specialized teachings based on their age group.
Clients can usually keep their individual therapist
One of the most common questions we receive from referring providers is whether clients must transfer all of their care to MHS.
In most cases, the answer is no.
Most clients continue working with their existing individual therapist while participating in an MHS program. Our team collaborates closely with outside providers whenever appropriate to help ensure continuity of care and support positive treatment outcomes.
This collaborative approach allows clients to receive specialized DBT or trauma treatment while maintaining established therapeutic relationships.
